To improve the chances of online video content becoming a viral video marketing effort, marketers need to create video that doesn't replicate broadcast commercials and promote the content through different sources.

Fewer than 20 percent of the videos that make it onto Advertising Age's Top Ten viral video marketing chart are repurposed TV ads, but nearly 100 percent of the online videos have some type of viral web video marketing campaign to promote the content.
