Well, it seems some companies, including Netflix and Microsoft, have got together behind a single format for media streaming. The format, MPEG DASH, now has its own Promoters Group . DASH, or dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP, was just finalized in November and allows for, obviously, the ability of the stream to change bitrate based on network health.
Boxee had already announced that they were going to to stop supporting the computer application, available for PC, Mac and Linux, they had made. But they never mentioned they were going to completely remove it from their site, yet, that is exactly what they've now done. Boxee is now focusing solely on the Boxee Box hardware since they believe that the future of the digital living room is not the PC.

I think that we can now officially claim the time of the connected TV is upon us. Even Lenovo is now getting into it. I guess they weren't satisfied with simply passing Dell as second largest PC maker now they want to start busting in on companies like LG, Sony and Samsung.

Panasonic seems completely serious when it comes to combining online video with normal TV. They have no less than a dozen pre-installed apps planned for their upcoming Viera connected TVs and the expected total available apps now sits at around 120.
