Maker Studios, Disney XD Team Up For Talent Incubation Program

Nearly a year-and-a-half after acquiring Maker Studios , Disney is still figuring out new ways to leverage its relationship with its proprietary digital media network. The latest partnership between the two brands is Disney XD by Maker , a talent search that will combine Maker’s creative partners with Disney’s resources. The goal of Disney XD by Maker is to find content creators who can produce winning shows to be distributed across Disney XD’s network, which spans digital , mobile , and TV .

YouTube Prepares To Launch Music Key, Paid Subscription Services By End Of Year

According to a new report, two long-awaited updates from the world’s most popular video site will roll out before the end of 2015. As The Verge reports, YouTube “is preparing to launch its two separate subscription services”– YouTube Music Key and a separate, ad-free subscription service –“before the end of 2015.” The Verge’s headline claims the new service will change YouTube “dramatically,” but the video site has insisted from the start that it plans to keep its current ad-based model as the primary format for its users

Pay-TV Companies Lose Record Amount Of Subscribers In Q2 2015

After a first-time-ever loss of overall subscribers in Q1 of 2015 , pay-TV and cable companies didn’t fare much better in the last three months. According to research firm SNL Kagan , pay-TV companies lost roughly 625,000 residential and commercial subscribers in Q2 of 2015, the biggest loss recorded in the industry for that quarter in the last five years. SNL Kagan tracked over 70 cable operators across the U.S., and reported that the 625,000 subscriber loss now puts the total number of residential and commercial pay-TV subscribers at around 100.4 million as of June 30, 2015
